{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Rollo of Normandy was a Viking leader from the late 9th and early 10th centuries who became the first ruler of the region that would eventually be called Normandy in northern France. Known early on as a Norse warrior who took part in raids along the Seine River, Rollo later worked out a landmark treaty with King Charles the Simple around 911 CE. This latest issue in the Way to Valhalla Series brings Rollo to life in a new design. Right now, 2026 2 oz Antique Cameroon Silver The Way to Valhalla Rollo of Normandy Coins are available at BGASC.
Highlights:
Each 2026 2 oz Antique Cameroon Silver The Way to Valhalla Rollo of Normandy Coin is housed in a presentation box and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. An antique finish covers the surface to create an aged appearance, and the obverse design is struck in high relief for added depth and a more three-dimensional look. You will also notice a touch of red colorization on Rollos sash on the obverse for a small but noticeable detail.
Obverse
The obverse of 2026 Antique Cameroon Silver The Way to Valhalla Coins features a portrait of Rollo of Normandy. His most important achievement was changing his role from raider to official ruler, helping establish the Duchy of Normandy as a secure and growing territory. Rollo encouraged a blend of Norse and Frankish culture by urging his followers to adopt local customs, use the French language, and accept Christianity, while still holding onto Viking discipline and military strength. Over time, his leadership helped Normandy rise as one of the stronger regions of medieval Europe, and his descendants later made history in England during the 1066 conquest led by William the Conqueror.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2026 2 oz Antique Silver The Way to Valhalla Rollo of Normandy Coins is a Norse-inspired scene of a Viking riding on horseback. Shown in left-profile relief, the warrior carries a shield and spear while seated on the moving horse. Norse symbols and patterns fill the background field, and the design is framed by a rough, rocky edge that adds texture around the outer rim.
History
Rollos place in history is tied to the Treaty of Saint-Clair-sur-Epte. In this agreement, he received land in what is now Normandy in return for swearing loyalty to the French king and agreeing to defend the region against other Viking raiders. He converted to Christianity as part of the arrangement and founded a line of rulers that would later have a major impact across Europe.
