Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Chinese Gold Panda Coin shows the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests from Beijings Temple of Heaven. Completed in 1420 during the reign of the Yongle Emperor, this circular wooden structure has a triple-tiered roof of blue tiles and remains one of Chinas most admired historic sites.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 2026 30 Gram Gold Panda design features two Giant Pandas sitting near each other beside a small pond. The scene captures one panda leaning gently toward the other. Detailed engraving adds texture to the ground and surrounding bamboo, bringing depth to the artwork.
History
The pair of pandas may symbolize the animals short and rare mating season. Pandas typically have only one breeding season each year, lasting from March through May. During this short window, females are receptive for just a few days, and males often compete through calls and scent marks rather than fighting.
