For the design of the 2026 Declaration of Independence Holt Broadside Gold Note, the focus is on the original printed broadside created for public distribution. After the Declaration was approved in Philadelphia on July 4, 1776, printers began producing copies to spread the message throughout the colonies. John Holt, a printer based in New York, created one of the earliest versions, distributing it among a population already dealing with the threat of British occupation. His printing helped extend the reach of the Declaration during a critical period.
History
