Burnished American Silver Eagles were introduced in 2006 to mark the 20th anniversary of the American Silver Eagle program. Since that time, they have earned a place among collectors for their unique finish and method of production. These coins are struck using specially treated blanks that are individually loaded into the presses. This approach produces a smooth, matte-like surface that differs from both bullion strikes and proof versions. Right now, 2026-W 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagle Coins are available at BGASC.

Obverse

On the obverse of 2026-W Burnished American Silver Eagles is Adolph A. Weinmans Walking Liberty design. First introduced in 1916 on the half dollar, the design shows Liberty moving toward the horizon in left-profile relief. She is wrapped in the American flag, extending her right arm while holding oak and laurel branches in her left arm.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle Coin features the bald eagle design by Emily Damstra. This design, introduced in 2020, shows the eagle descending with wings raised as it carries an oak branch.

History

The 2026 edition brings together several important anniversaries. It celebrates 40 years of the American Eagle Series and 20 years since the release of the first burnished Silver Eagle. In addition, the US Mint is recognizing Americas 250th anniversary with design updates such as the dual-date obverse and the America 250 Liberty Bell emblem seen on its major collector coins.
