Silver coins are produced in many different weights, with each mint choosing the sizes that best fit its programs and collections. Among the less common options available to collectors is the 3/4 oz silver coin. This weight is most often seen in proof issues made for collectors, though a small selection of bullion strikes also exists. Currently, 3/4 oz Silver Coins in varied condition are available for purchase online from BGASC.

Highlights:

  • Arrives inside of protective flips!
  • Offered in varied condition from any mint.
  • Contains 3/4 troy oz of .999 or .9999 pure silver.
  • Face values determined by mint and nation of origin.
  • Obverse and reverse designs vary by mint of issue.
  • If you buy more than one, please note you could receive several different specimens in varying conditions.

Each 3/4 oz Silver Coin offered here is delivered in an individual plastic flip for basic protection. These coins are sold in varied condition, meaning no two coins are guaranteed to look the same. Some pieces may show minor signs of handling such as light scratches or contact marks, while others could have more noticeable issues like heavy wear, gouges, holes, or bent surfaces. BGASC does not offer the option to choose specific designs or condition levels. All coins are selected randomly based on available inventory after payment is completed.

Designs

One of the most recognized mints to issue 3/4 oz Silver Coins is the Royal Canadian Mint. It has used this unique weight for both standalone commemorative releases and coins from longer-running series. While there is no assurance that the coin you receive will come from the Royal Canadian Mint or any particular collection, the following examples represent some of the possible coins that may be included.

The 3/4 oz Canadian War of 1812 Silver Coin is one example that may be encountered. These coins feature a reverse design that reflects the War of 1812 in North America, a conflict involving Great Britain and its Canadian allies against the newly formed United States. The goal on both sides was to expand influence and territory across the continent. The reverse design displays a shield with a Canadian sugar maple leaf, flanked by the Lion of England and the American bald eagle.

Other possible examples from the Royal Canadian Mint include the 3/4 oz silver issues from the Animal Portrait Series. Introduced in 2017, this series presents a new reverse design each year created by artist Denis Mayer. These coins are struck with a reverse-proof finish, which gives the design elements a mirror-like appearance while the background fields remain frosted on both the obverse and reverse.
