{{/presale}} {{#promotion_on}}Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars are well-known pieces of classic American coinage. Produced from 1878 through the mid-1930s, these coins span decades of US history and remain popular among silver buyers. In cull condition, they offer a practical option for those seeking 90% silver at a lower premium. Morgan and/or Peace Silver Dollar Coins in cull condition are currently available from BGASC.
Highlights:
Each coin is delivered in a protective plastic flip. All pieces offered here are considered cull condition, showing significant wear or noticeable imperfections. These may include heavy scratches, corrosion, bending, or other visible damage. While not ideal for numismatic collections, the coins still retain their silver value. We select coins at random when fulfilling orders. If you purchase more than one, you may receive only Morgan Dollars, only Peace Dollars, or a combination of the two.
Designs
The obverse of the Morgan Dollar displays Liberty in left-profile wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with cotton and wheat. Thirteen stars encircle the portrait. The reverse features an eagle with wings extended, clutching arrows and an olive branch within a wreath design.
The obverse of the Peace Dollar shows Liberty facing right with flowing hair and a crown of rays, representing a modernized interpretation of the figure. The reverse presents a bald eagle resting on a rocky surface with an olive branch in its talons. The inscription PEACE is shown below, with sun rays rising behind the eagle.
History
The Morgan Dollar, created by George T. Morgan, was introduced in 1878 following federal silver purchase requirements. The series was minted through 1904 and briefly again in 1921. The Peace Dollar replaced it in 1921 as a symbol of peace after World War I. Designed by Anthony de Francisci, the Peace Dollar was struck through 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935, ending an era of circulating silver dollars.
